Commercial Water

Commercial and non-household water markets were de-regulated in England in April 2017. This has enabled users to switch suppliers and secure a more cost-effective contract for their business usage. Since de-regulation, customer service satisfaction has dramatically increased with suppliers using value-added business models to work with customers and lower bills.

Ofwat set the wholesale costs for the water market every April and all suppliers pass these charges through to their customers. This means that Eneco are only tendering for the retail fee which is approximately 5-15% of the total water/wastewater bill.

Trade Effluent is any liquid waste discharged into the sewers from a business or industrial process. It is anything other than domestic sewage or uncontaminated surface water and roof drainage.

What is a Supply Point Identification Number (SPID) and how do I find it?2020-06-26T10:33:40+00:00

Your SPID is always located on your water bill and is 13 digits long. There a two separate SPID for your water and sewage on your premises. These can sometimes be billed by separate suppliers depending on your area.

What is Water de-regulation?2021-10-19T14:19:25+00:00

Water was de-regulating in England in 2017 and in Scotland in 2008. This means you can change your business water supplier and Eneco Consulting can help your company find competitive pricing.

What information do we need?

In addition to a water-specific letter of authority, we will need copy bills for each water meter for the last year. The bills must clearly display your SPID (Supply Point Identification Number) – this is your unique number to your water meter. This number will be on the National Database for water and all water suppliers will be able to gain this information.

Why is the water market de-regulating?

The Government wants businesses to be able to switch water provider. Consequently, water suppliers will need to be more cost effective and provide better service for their customers. This should push down water costs.

Obtain Supply Information for Tendering

Upon receiving your signed Letter of Authority and copy bills, we will collate all information for your meters and approach your current supplier for any information ready for tendering of your requested water meters.

Tender to All Eligible Suppliers

Eneco will produce a tender and request prices from all eligible suppliers. We currently work with 7 different water suppliers to obtain competitive prices. Each year new suppliers are entering the market.

Analyse Supplier Offers

Our dedicated pricing analysts will ensure all quotes from suppliers are correct and provide the best possible quote depending on market movements. We will use our supplier contacts to ensure prices are competitive and produce a detailed pricing spreadsheet.

Provide Specialist Recommendations

Using Eneco’s experience and specialist knowledge, we will communicate with your business via e-mail or telephone to explain the quotes and advise on your best options.

Complete Contract Paperwork

Once you have decided on a chosen supplier, we will organise for contracts to be produced with 100% accuracy to then be signed by yourself on a day convenient to you.

Register Meters With New Supplier

Eneco will confirm lock in of your contract and send through countersigned contracts to keep for your records. When your meter is due to go live, we will confirm with the new supplier that the meter is with them and re-confirm the contract end date and the billing details. Eneco will handle any problems that may arise including objections.

Bill Validation

Once live with your new supplier, Eneco will check bills to confirm all rates are being honoured every month.
